Sleeping with the enemy

http://www.globalgayz.com/g-palestine.html

During my visit to Drima's blog (the Sudanese Thinker) I got to surf 'around' for 'real-life' stories, as these are the ONLY things ever that matter for me (I'm just sick and completely tired and nauseous of the hi-jacked 'stories' that serve one goal only and alone and that is to make one-another look bad in the eye of whichever 'side' you're against).

Therefore, I will try and bring to 'you' these stories from 'real-life' rather than propaganda tools, in order to get as much as possible a picture of PEOPLE in the middle east in this very region without trying to blacken someone -but to improve on things that have not yet caught up in the modern way of thinking, even if there are people who don't want to think 'modern' and find it is sinful, but in everyday life (and I'm truly speaking experience here) - can be and are the best of friends with the subjects they seem to condemn.....

Happy reading, here's a part of the accounts of the people living it:

Almost 2 years of bitter fighting, trust between Israelis and Palestinians has never been lower. But in a packed, smoky nightclub on the edge of Jerusalem’s ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim district, the gay communities from both sides still bridge the growing divide, breaking down racial and political barriers as Jews and Arabs defy traditional stereotypes and threats of suicide bombers.

Comments:
great post...

Until I read it, I always thought Amsterdam's Rembrantplein was the only hot spot for this specific kind of Is-Pal rapprochement.

Hey, every little bit helps.

This is why Israel lost it's last war. G-d has forsaken your country for allowing all this homosexuality to go on in the Holy Land.

Homosexuality exists in all cultures , societies (primitive and advanced), states, clans, religious groupings etc...

Israel allows gays to serve in the military and perhaps some of those gay soldiers have died fighting for their country last summer. I wonder what their parents and loved ones would think of your statement.

It's only through G-d's intervention that Israel was able to reconstitute herself as a nation again.

And all during the time that Israel was winning war after war against overwhelming odds, that was G-d's intervention as well.

But now G-d has forsaken Israel as was seen last year. Why has G-d forsaken Israel?

Oh, I don't know perhaps

Sure, such stuff is far from unique to Israel. But the problem is that for Israel it isn't only the issue of how it decays a society. It is a military issue as well.

Israel in it's current form shouldn't exist. If one looked at it on paper, a small country surrounded on all sides by fanatical enemies wanting to destroy them, such a country doesn't have a chance of surviving. It would quickly be wiped off the face of the map.

Yet, here Israel is. And time and time again, it's been attacked by overpowering forces, yet time and time again against the odds it has defeated its foes. How is this possible? Well G-d's intervention of course. But if G-d ever stopped intervening nature would then take its course and your enemies would destroy you just like on paper it says you should have been a long time ago.

G-d is the reason you exist. Israel can't just depend on its military for its survival because alone it is just too weak. But of course with G-d it can take down any foe as had been in previous generations of Israelis seen time and time again.

So, all this moral degeneracy, yeah, it is hurting all the west. It has weakened America and Europe as well. But for you, such weakness can't be afford. The Europeans and North Americans will pay for their degeneracy too but given the precarious situation that is Israel's existence Israel will pay first.

Sure, you can point to Amsterdam or San Francisco, and many many many other places as being as bad if not worst but these places aren't in the Holy Land. You are so more should be expected. For if you are G-d's chosen people then you should start acting like G-d's chosen people. If you aren't G-d's chosen people then you really have no claim to the Holy Land.

Israel's existence is a modern miracle. There is no logical reason why your enemies didn't wipe you out at your birth, or during the other wars you faced. Looking at it from a Military standpoint, you should have been toast. They should have kicked your butt, but the opposite is true.

So, what is your secret military weapon? Well it's not to secret. It's G-d. It's the covenant you have with G-d.

Yet if you look at the relationship that between G-d and His chosen you will find that in the past it was often the case that time and time again when the Jews stopped living up to their part of the covenant G-d would start not living up to His and Israel would be delivered to her enemies. It is a clear pattern that you see time and time again in Jewish history.

That is why it is so important to do something to drive out this homosexuality and all the other moral degeneracy that is happening throughout the Holy Land. For if you don't history will repeat itself and again you will be delivered to your enemies.

Early signs of this are appearing already. In earlier generations you won wars against overwhelming odds. Wars that on paper you had no chance of winning.

Yet, this last summer, you lost a war that you should have on paper won. You had the odds totally on your favor, yet you lost.

You need to wake up to what this means. For what it means is that the pattern is repeating itself again. G-d is abandoning you for you not living up to your part of the covenant.

It's a touching story.

I wonder if their unique relationship is what made Salem abandon the path of violence and believe in the co-existence of our two nations.

I can't imagine how hard it must be for them to maintain this impossible relationship. But it's a very good example of what this world should be like - Israelis and Palestinians living together and Gays enjoy freedom of rights in the middle east.

Nizo, that was an excellent reply. You couldn't be more right. ;)
